Somewhere Between a single by Brad Jack

Brad Jack is a solo acoustic artist from Wakefield, West Yorkshire. His musical style is influenced by a mix of contemporary Folk artists and the naughties Indie scene. A performance and recording artist, his single "Somewhere Between" is available on all major streaming platforms. He is currently working on new material with studio time booked in for Summer 2021 to record a follow up single for release later this year. A title after my own, “Somewhere Between”, I love the reference to the spaces in-between; the concept of limbo in various contexts is an interesting opening image. Brad Jack’s inspiration from the naughties Indie scene can definitely be heard in his voice, echoing the vocal quality in Weezer’s song “Buddy Holly”. “Somewhere Between” uses acoustic guitar throughout, and layered harmonies whilst singing the words “somewhere between, life and a dream, that’s where I’ll be”. Despite the typical guitar sequence Jack uses, he shows promise with his exploration of word and rhyme in his lyrics, such as “got to get a grip, because soon we’ll steer the ship, when I’m drunk at the wheel”. I hope to hear Jack give more emotion and enunciation in his future releases, despite some indie vocalists encouraging a laid back lacklustre sound, I believe some power would enhance Jack’s performance. Other tracks from Brad Jack include “Little Letter”, an emotive piece that hones in on Jack’s love for the acoustic folk genre. I encourage Jack to explore this side of his music as I can hear some great strengths as he approaches the folk style, with time and growth his music will only progress.
